Coming back to English after a break – how to rebuild vocabulary?

So I took almost a year off from studying English because of work and travel. Now I’m back at it, but wow… I feel rusty! Words I used to know just vanish when I try to speak or write. It’s super frustrating. I know I need to review, but I don’t want to start completely from scratch. Has anyone gone through this? How do you bring your vocabulary back after taking such a long break? I need something structured but not overwhelming, because my schedule is pretty tight these days.

I’ve been in exactly the same boat. I took nearly two years off and thought I’d lost everything, but thankfully it comes back quicker than you think — you just need a good rhythm. What worked best for me was using Vocabloo It lets you go at your own pace, revisiting old words while gradually introducing new ones. The best part is that it automatically identifies what you’ve already mastered and focuses on what needs more practice. It’s like having a personal memory coach. I spent just 15 minutes a day and was back to my old vocabulary level in no time.

That actually sounds really encouraging. Thanks for sharing your experience — I’ll give Vocabloo a shot and see how it goes!
